Here's what we were working with - a backyard completely overtaken by weeds, dead patches, and bare dirt. No usable lawn, no real outdoor space. Just a mess that made it hard to even want to go outside. A lot of backyards in newer neighborhoods end up like this when builders leave the yard unfinished.

We came in and cleared everything out from the ground up. That meant full weed removal, proper grading, and getting a sprinkler system in the ground before anything else went down. Skipping that step is one of the biggest mistakes homeowners make - you don't want to be digging up fresh sod to run irrigation later.

Once the prep was done, we laid fresh sod across the entire yard and lined the fence perimeter with dark decorative rock. The contrast between the green lawn and the black gravel border gives the yard a clean, finished look that's also really low maintenance. We also installed a concrete patio extension and a fire pit area in the back corner to give this homeowner a real outdoor living space.

This is the kind of yard you can actually use. Room for kids to run around, a fire pit to hang out at in the evenings, and zero weeds to deal with. The gravel borders along the fence line do double duty - they look sharp and help with drainage so water isn't pooling against the fence.

Getting sod, gravel, irrigation, and hardscape all done at once is the most efficient way to tackle a full backyard build. Everything gets planned and installed together, which means cleaner results and no rework down the road.
