Sometimes artificial turf just runs its course. It gets matted, faded, or starts holding heat in a way that makes the yard uncomfortable - especially in the summer. That's exactly the situation we stepped into on this backyard job.

We pulled out the old artificial turf completely, then installed a new sprinkler system underneath before laying fresh natural sod. Getting the irrigation right before the sod goes down is the move that makes all the difference long-term. It keeps the grass rooted evenly and takes a lot of the guesswork out of watering.

The curbed edging along the lawn does a lot of heavy lifting here too. It creates a clean separation between the grass and the surrounding mulch beds, which keeps everything looking intentional. No grass creeping into the rock, no mulch migrating onto the lawn.

What you end up with is a yard that actually works - one that's soft underfoot, properly irrigated, and easy to maintain. Natural sod breathes differently than artificial turf. It stays cooler, it's better for kids and pets, and it just feels more like a real backyard.

Every piece of this job connects - the turf removal, the sprinkler layout, the sod installation, and the edging that ties it all together. When each part is done right, the finished yard shows it.
